The ATP will regulate the toilet break and medical time out during matches on the men’s tennis circuit, L’Équipe reported on Monday.
A lot of ink has been spilled over the length of the toilet breaks this year, some players, such as Novak Djokovic or Stefanos Tsitsipas, being suspected of taking the opportunity to break the rhythm of a meeting that is not working to their advantage of tennis results.
In a document sent to the players, which L’Équipe was able to consult, the ATP indicates that the players will only be able to take one toilet break per match, only during the end of a set and for a maximum of three minutes. Regarding the medical time-out, there will be a time-out of three minutes per match to be taken during a change of side or at the end of a set only. If the player cannot continue until the next change of ends, he will lose the points required to reach that change of ends / end of set.
